DIY Handmade Lace Leg Warmers Supplies

Here is how to complete this project:

  1. Take the fabric of your choice and measure it to wrap just below your knee to ensure a proper fit. Cut the fabric and then take that piece of fabric and cut the other piece an identical width.

DIY Handmade Lace Leg Warmers 2. If you would like your leg warmers to be thicker, which I did in my case, you can fold the fabric over prior to cutting, or cut multiple pieces the same size and hot glue them together

10 Fantastic Hair Tips

10 Fantastic Hair Tips

1. Always blow dry the hair closest to your head first. The rest of the hair will dry as well and you will have more volume. The hair closest to your head is also younger then the ends. If you constantly blow dry the fragile, older ends of your hair you will cause damage.

2.Condition your hair first. When you get in the shower, after wetting your hair, put condition on the mid-length through the tips of your hair. Add a little water, and shampoo only your scalp with the conditioner still in your hair. Then rinse all of it out. This is particularly helpful for those that wash their hair every day.

3. Always rinse you hair with cold water. If you can stand it, wash your hair with only cold water. Why? Because cold water closes the outermost layer of your hair, and hot water will open it. If you constantly wash your hair with hot water, the cuticle will constantly be open and cause damage. Hot water also causes your color to fade faster.

4. Every two weeks use a clarifying shampoo to get rid of all of the excess product in your hair.

5. If you can only splurge on one hair product let it be your conditioner.

6. When looking at new hair styles in magazines and online, cover the face of the person before deciding you want that as your new “do.” More often than not, people want to look like the person in general, and not have their hairstyle.

7. A wet to dry flat iron is a BAD idea…do not even think about it.

8. If you are going to use a flat iron, you have to use a heat protectant spray that goes on dry hair.

9. More expensive hot tools are worth the money. They last longer and are better for your hair.

10. Your diet, and stress levels affect your hair. Bottom line..a healthy you = a good lookin do.’ Take your vitamins everyday and exercise for luxurious locks.

The Best Foundation Ever!

I was on a mission to come to peace with my paleness this winter but I wanted to still look alive. I searched all over the web for the highest rated foundation that would make my skin “glow” but not look shiny, cover my freckles but not look caked on, and keep face looking even with my combination skin. You get the idea- the foundation had to be “just right.” (I am not picky or anything!) Well, I found the best of the best, YSL LE TEINT TOUCHE ÉCLAT Illuminating Foundation SPF 19. From what the reviews on and this product was said to be the best of the best. So, after a long day at work I slipped on some flats and got my mall mission face on. It was a Saturday night and the holiday season so the mall was sure to be packed…and boy was it ever! I went to three stores looking for this magic little potion and all of them were out of it or did not have my shade. (This product must be fantastic if everyone is purchasing it right?)

A very nice women at Sephora gave me a complimentary sample to take home though since they were all out. I was going out on the town that night so I decided it was a great chance to test it out. I tried it and it did live up to my expectations! It fulfilled all of the above criteria and was long-lasting. I swear my skin looked better after I took off too!

I highly recommend this product. I know it is a hefty price tag but, it is well worth it since you only need a very tiny bit.

I also received a sample of their TOUCHE ÉCLAT – Radiant Touch which is like a magic wand that lights up your face and is a concealer. I absolutely love it! This item is going on my Christmas list for sure!

Self-Tanner Tricks and Tips

It is that time of year again! There is less sunshine, cooler weather, and…pale skin! (Not that there is anything wrong with this.) However, if you miss that summertime tan that is fading fast, do not worry! Self-tanners have come a long way and the technology is fantastic. There are plenty of wonderful product options out there! I have tried quite a few and here are my favorites and why as well as some tips!

(Please keep in mind this is coming from a girl with very fair skin. I have been nicknamed “Snow White” before when not  using any tanning product.)

Sun Self Tanning Lotion Ultra Dark Instant Tint

This product is fantastic for three reasons: 1. It doesn’t have a strange smell. 2. It is not orange-looking at all. 3.It gives a nice, dark, tan quickly.

Body Drench Quick Tan Instant Self-tanning Spray

This product is super simple to use. I recommend exfoliating, drying off thoroughly, and then having someone mist this product on to you from six inches away while you stand in a bathtub/shower. (This makes it a little less messy.) Make sure your helper is misting the product onto you in a horizontal sweeping motion for maximum coverage.

 Jergens Natural Glow Medium/Tan

For someone who wants to use a moisturizer every day in order to achieve a natural looking tan, this is perfect! Or, if you are a tan-a-holic, (like I can be) this is the perfect product to use in between applications of the above products. Keep in mind if your a first time self-tanner Jergens offers an even milder version of this lotion.

Mystic Tan Mystic Tan Sunless Spray

If you want the same product the professionals use at your fingertips, this is it! This product is the same as what the Mystic Tan Booths are spraying onto clients in the salon. The only difference is the time involved and this is much less expensive! I recommend applying it in the same manner as the Body Drench Quick Tan Spray.

St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse

This is a celebrity favorite, used by both Kim Kardashian and Giuliana Rancic. The price tag is a little more, but it is well worth the price. If you do end up purchasing this product, I recommend buying the kit that contains an application mitt, an exfoliation product, and the mousse.

Time for some Tips..

I have used all of the products above and I know that in order for any of them to be successful, they must be applied correctly! Here are some simple tips to follow.

1. Always, always exfoliate first.

2. Make sure you are completely dry before applying self-tanner.

3. Use an applicator mitt or wear gloves. (Unless you want it to be very obvious that you use self-tanner.

4. Use makeup sponges to apply self tanner to your face, neck, and hands. (This allows for an even application and will ensure that too much product does not get onto your skin.)

5. When applying self-tanner to your face push the product into your hairline. (Otherwise it will appear that you are wearing a mask.-Not Good)

After years of doing makeup for clients on special occasions such as prom and weddings…I have decided these are my favorites!

eyelash curler

1. A good eyelash curler makes all the difference in the world. This quality one will last a long time and make you appear wide awake!

TIGI Liquid Enhancer

2. Eyeshadow primer is a fairly new concept. It makes all the difference in the world when it comes to vibrancy and how long the shadow stays on. Put a small amount of this in your favorite shadow before applying.

mac eyeliner

3. It has been my quest for many years to find an eyeliner that does not budge all day long.  This one is well worth the price. It stays put until you take it off with makeup remover.

TIGI Eyeliner

4. Liquid eyeliner can be extremely difficult for people to use. The intimidation of basically using a sharpie on your eye is pretty scary. This one is super user-friendly. The tip is very thing and only has a small amount of liquid on it to prevent messes.

sexy motherpucker

5. This is a product you can FEEL working. It will tingle, but the results are fascinating. You will actually see plumper lips in the mirror after using this.

photo finish primer

6. I do not care if your foundation is $8 from CVS or $45 from Chanel…You need a primer! Put a small amount of this on before your foundation and your face will look radiant. If you have a special event coming up and do not want to go to a professional, this would be the product I recommend the most.

eyebrow stencil

7. Everybody forgets about the eyebrows! Your eyebrows are the “picture frames for your eyes” as I like to say. They are the number one in importance if you only have a few minutes to do your makeup.

8. There has to be a billion different mascaras out there…and I think I have tried every single one of them. This one is my favorite hands down!

10. Are you looking alive and happy? If your answer is no…add some blush to your cheeks! This one stays put for hours and hours.

How to Achieve Silky Smooth Hair

How to achieve silky smooth hair

How to achieve silky smooth hair

As a hair stylist, I have tried and sampled many different products. I know how frustrating it can be to spend a fortune on a product that shows little or no results. The products below are some of my absolute favorites that I have been using for years. If you have any questions regarding your hair please feel free to email me at

Click on the images if you are interested in purchasing the product.

Goldwell Dual Senses Shampoo

This shampoo is perfect for color treated hair. It has a wonderful, fresh, grapefruit scent. It will leave your hair feeling soft without weighing it down. If your hair needs extra moisture, I recommend the “Extra Rich” version.

s factor serious conditioner
S-Factor Serious Conditioner

With this conditioner a little goes a long way. Although it is on the expensive side.. this product should last you at least five months. It is well worth the investment. After you have shampooed your hair, apply a quarter sized amount to the middle of your hair down to the tips. (Do not apply to the scalp) Let it sit on for a few minutes and then rinse. This conditioner smells incredible.  It contains sunflower seed oil and hydrolyzed silk for extra smooth hair.

Goldwell color spray
Goldwell Color Glow Deep reflects Leave-In Treatment Spray

This leave in spray goes on towel dried hair immediately after getting out of the shower. It is only necessary if your hair is color treated. Be sure to shake the bottle before applying. This formula provides a shield from the sun’s harmful rays, protects the hair from the heat of the blow dryer, and adds shine.

s factor smoothing lusterizer
TIGI S Factor Smoothing Lusterizer

This is my favorite product of all time! Apply a dime sized amount to towel dried hair. (Once again, do not apply this product to your scalp.) This product has a fine glitter in it that makes your hair appear extremely healthy. It also cuts back on frizz, protects the hair from heat, and smooths down the cuticle. I have also used a tiny, tiny, bit of this product on my ends when my hair is dry before I curl it with an iron.

Goldwell Style Sign Top Whip Volume Mousse

This volumizing mousse it fantastic for any hair type. Apply a golf ball sized amount to towel dried hair. Be sure to apply this product directly on your scalp.

heat protectant
Goldwell Sleek Perfection Thermal Spray Serum

A very important product that is often overlooked is a heat spray. Anyone who uses any type of flat iron or curling iron absolutely needs to apply this first. You wouldn’t stick your hair in a 420 degree oven would you? Well that is exactly how hot the curling irons and flat irons get to these days. Spray this on each section of your hair when it is completely dry to protect it from the heat. This product comes out in a fantastic light mist that does not leave your hair greasy.

This is an excellent way to prevent split ends. If you are growing your hair out and are dying for long hair, it is absolutely necessary to do this. I cannot stress enough how important it is to use this product. I have seen way too many clients with fried hair that could of completely avoided being in that situation.  Another important note- Do not use flat irons on hair that is even a little damp. Your hair must be completely dry before using flat irons or curling irons. Do not purchase a ” Wet to Dry Flat Iron,” they are very, very, damaging to the hair.
